Ong Palace reimagines Chinese fine dining through a modern oriental perspective, combining heritage, character, and new branding into one harmonious design narrative. Created by Metaphor Interior, the project translates the grandeur of a traditional Chinese palace into a contemporary fine-dining experience. Refined, cultural, and deeply resonant with the brand’s spirit of #ExtraordinaryChineseDining in Samarinda.
The concept draws from the meaning of “Ong”, derived from the Chinese family name “王 (Wang),” meaning King. This symbolism shaped the design vision of a “palace of the king,” where legacy and modernity coexist. Each design element reflects cultural continuity expressed through modern simplicity and craftsmanship.
Inspired by the spatial structure of ancient palaces, the interior unfolds across three key zones:
- Courtyard – a welcoming entrance and outdoor dining area echoing openness and arrival.
- Residence – the heart of the restaurant, defined by warm tones and a sense of togetherness.
- Ceremonial Hall – the VIP and ballroom area, designed for elegance and grandeur.
Soft lighting, curved ceiling lines, and natural materials define an oriental contemporary style, modern, sleek, yet rooted in tradition. Warm woods, neutral tones, and lattice details echo oriental artistry with a sense of comfort and warmth.
Through its modern interpretation of cultural design, Ong Palace becomes more than a dining destination; it is a statement of legacy refined for the present, and a celebration of Chinese heritage shaped for today’s contemporary audience.
